Uncovering Asian Canadian and Black Canadian artistic production

This booklet and the research residency that produced the inception of the Blackity exhibition. The short essay along with its accompanying bibliography were the start of my investigation into the history of contemporary Black art production in this country. I wanted to return to this research because I distinctly recall feeling like the group and I had only scratched the surface of what the collection actually had to offer. I also knew that even in the short few years since the student-led residency much had shifted at Artexte and I wished to hold space for that and dive a little bit deeper into the boxes.
